Merriam-Webster defines a vacation as "a respite or a time of respite from something." Seeing as though Amber and I have a lot of "something(s)" in our lives, we decided to take a respite from all of it except each other. We chose to go to San Diego since neither of us had really ever been there (don't consider vague childhood memories of Sea World as "being there"). Regardless of where we went, It was definitely a much needed getaway. We stayed right on the ocean and enjoyed being close enough to the city to get a feel for San Diego, but far enough away to feel like we were on the beach. Here is a recap of our trip:
Day 1 - Drove to San Diego, checked into our hotel and just chilled.
Day 2 - Got up early and went to the San Diego Temple (the highlight of the trip although we were a bit disappointed it was being renovated). Then, we headed to Sea World and spent the day just enjoying the sights there. Later, we headed back to our hotel and ate, swam, and relaxed.
Day 3 - Woke up late, walked down to the Port and took a ferry to Coronado Island. Not knowing what to do, we just walked around checking out the houses and shops until we found the beach. Walked around the beach, found shells and enjoyed the cool breeze of the ocean. After Coronado Island we took the ferry back to San Diego to go check out Old Town and the new and improved Mormon Battalion center. Later, we headed back to the hotel and just chilled.
Day 4 - Headed home to see our little girls.
Overall, it was a great vacation. It is always nice to get away and just forget about all the "somethings" in our lives and just enjoy each other.
